History and financial support
The Centre for Integrative Neuroscience Discovery is funded by the University of Cambridge Academic Seed Fund.
We began in 2019 as the Institute for Neuroscience, and have previously:
1. Provided studentships for PhD candidates undertaking an interdisciplinary programme of study
2. Worked with Cambridge Neuroscience Interdisciplinary Research Centre on the establishment of six cross-cutting themes tackling fundamental problems in neuroscience:
- Neuronal Circuits and Networks
- Adaptive Brain Computations
- Beyond the Neuron: glia, vascular and immune cells
- Lifelong Brain Development
- Social Behaviour and Communication
- Brains and Machines
3. Worked with Cambridge Neuroscience on an interdisciplinary seminar series, workshops and training sessions.
The themes developed have been adopted by the wider neuroscience community, and ongoing activity in these areas continues through Cambridge Neuroscience. We are now focused on enabling collaborations across Cambridge’s cross-disciplinary research community in discovery neuroscience that have strong translational potential in the development of artificial intelligence systems, neurotechnology solutions and clinical applications. Our new name, the Centre for Integrative Neuroscience Discovery, reflects this focus.
