Centre for Integrative Neuroscience Discovery

The Centre for Integrative Neuroscience Discovery (CIND) brings together researchers working at the intersections of neurocognition, neurocomputation and neurotechnology.

The goal of CIND is to understand the fundamental mechanisms of nervous system function by enabling interdisciplinary research integrating molecular, circuit, behavioural, and cognitive neuroscience using a combination of experimental and computational approaches.

We aim to facilitate collaboration amongst scientists of all disciplines to enable progress via:

  • The development and application of new experimental and analytic techniques to accelerate neuroscience research
  • The close interaction between theorists and experimentalists to enhance discovery in cross-disciplinary research in neuroscience focusing on computational neuroscience, artificial and biological intelligence, and neurotechnology
  • The establishment of a nucleus of dynamic and interactive research groups to facilitate novel avenues of research

CIND-funded PhD students research learning in neuropsychiatric diseases and brain-machine interfaces

The Centre for Integrative Neuroscience Discovery has funded three PhD studentships for candidates undertaking a programme of study across diverse areas of neuroscience, each supervised by two PIs from different departments at the University of Cambridge. Two of these researchers share highlights of their PhD work on learning in neuropsychiatric diseases and brain-machine interfaces for virtual navigation.

Congratulations to CIND PI Funding Call 2023 Awardees

CIND is delighted to announce the awardees of our recent PI funding call. This funding is for projects led by two or more PIs from different departments/schools, at the intersections of neurocognition, neurocomputation and neurotechnology and will ideally position projects to apply for significant research funding. We look forward to seeing these projects develop in coming months.

About Us

The Centre for Integrative Neuroscience Discovery (CIND) brings together researchers working at the intersections of neurocognition, neurocomputation and neurotechnology. We interface between neuroscience, biological sciences, computer science, engineering and the AI and data science community at the University of Cambridge. We enable collaborations across Cambridge’s cross-disciplinary research community in discovery neuroscience that have strong translational potential in the development of AI systems, neurotechnology solutions and clinical applications.
